Hi, this is Heather. It was great speaking with you today! Thank you for sending me the extra photos.

This is youreMy Design Guide Design consultation. It addresses your room problems based on your style and lifestyle, taking your room from Good to Great!

Your Stylefinder style indicates a preference for asian and modern. Your preferred color palette is cool colors. However after speaking we discussed doing a modern room with bright colors and wallcoverings.

We love your wood floors these are highly sought after features in every home and your white desk means that it won't be hard to pair with other decor items. The challenges of this room is space. To address these problems we are recommending: an accent wall, the use of mirrors, and small touches of color.

Here are specific ideas and products to get you there.

  • After speaking today you mentioned that you really liked graphic prints for walls. For the wall behind your desk I chose a paisley wallpaper to give a nice accent to the walls. The remaining three walls will be mineral deposit gray from Sherwin Williams. Gray is very popular right now and is one of those colors that you can coordinate anything with!
  • Since you want to keep your current desk, a piece of furniture behind you while you work will make the space behind you seem not as bare. I chose a gray and white vaneer credenza but this piece could be a bookcase or file cabinet if you wish.
  • For the seating in front of your desk I chose a yellow printed club chair. Providing two will make the room look balanced and you could place another mirrored table between them. This type of seating will make your office look inviting. Alternatively, you could use a fabric like this one to reupholster your current desk chair. The yellow in the chair will look great with the reupholstered sofa in gray. Dwell Studio has lush fabrics perfect for reupholstery but any gray fabric you like will work just make sure its good for seating.

Use the turqoise fabric for throw pillows and curtains for an added pop of color as well as other yellow pillows with geometric prints.

  • Place the sofa along the wall opposite the desk and pair it with mirrored tables. This will bring in a different texture with the shiny reflections.
  • Accessories will really pull your room together. Go for teal vases or candle holders, mirrors, and black and white photos. Pottery Barn has a ton of New York Times Archive black and white prints so choose your favorite ones to hang above your sofa.

Don't forget about flooring! Adding an area rug will soften up the room quite a bit. I chose a chevron print in gray and trimmed in yellow.

  • Don't be afraid to add your own touch to your space. Include photos and items you love. The credenza will give you a place to display your treasures. Art is very personal. Weve found pieces that are of the right size and scale and color palette to work perfectly with your design. With that said, you might own similar pieces or find some that speak to you more directly and wed recommend using those that you are passionate about.
